Walk to Defeat ALS

I am asking every scout and scout leader to go to the link included below and let me know what your status will be for the ALS walk service project on October 27th, whether you are helping or not. This is to make planning possible. Thanks.

Detailed message:

Troop, we are now less than 4 weeks away from the 2018 version of the Walk to Defeat ALS. This is one of the biggest service projects our troop takes part in every year, and we will need everyone's help again this year.

I have created a sheet so that we can plan and be organized on walk day. I am asking EVERY scout to sign up to help, or sign the sheet indicating that they are unable to attend. I am requesting this by Monday, 10/15. This way I know well in advance of the walk if we will have enough helpers from the troop, and I have time to plan the teams for walk day in advance. The Boy Scouts are a highlight for our friends in the ALS community, and I hope you will make every effort to get out and help us again this year. Parents and siblings are encouraged to help as well.

We will once again need to borrow the EZ-UP style popup tents. We use these to provide shade for the ALS teams, particularly the ALS patients. We will need about 15 or so at a minimum, so if your family has one they can loan us (or your business, or your neighbor, etc) please note that on the signup sheet as well. Even if you aren't going to be able to participate in the walk I am interested in borrowing your popup canopy.

Remember that if you are accessing this on a phone or tablet you will need to install the Google Sheets app to update the sheet with your information. Please be sure to sign this sheet whether you are helping or not, and any parents or siblings who are helping please add your names to the list. Also if you are able to help but must arrive late or leave early please include this information as well as it will help in planning.

We will be welcoming Mr. Bryan Stone for a visit on the 15th of October at our scout meeting. Be sure to come talk with Mr. Stone about what ALS is, how it affects his life, and to hear about the treatments that this fundraiser helps make possible for ALS patients like him.

Thanks for your continued support for the ALS Association.
